Hello, I’m Lisa
I’m Lisa D. Welgo, an author, artist, homebody, and creator of Bayshore Bluff—a little harbor town born from my love of cozy mysteries, small-town life, creativity, and the simple things that make a place feel like home.
When I’m not writing about mysteries along the harbor, you’ll usually find me painting with watercolors, working in the garden, cooking for family and friends, or dreaming up another creative project. I believe some of life’s best moments happen around a table, in a garden, with a good book, or during an ordinary afternoon shared with the people we love.
The Things That Matter Most
My faith is the foundation of my life, and family and friends are among my greatest blessings. I love opening our home to the people we care about, gathering around the table for a good meal, working in my gardens, spending time with our pets, and finding ways to make home feel warm and welcoming. I believe hospitality doesn’t have to be elaborate—it can be as simple as an extra place at the table, a cup of coffee shared with a friend, or making someone feel that they are truly welcome.
Creativity has always been woven into that life. Whether I’m writing a new mystery, painting with watercolors, planning a garden, cooking for people I love, or dreaming up something new for Bayshore Bluff, creating brings me joy. Much of what finds its way into my stories and Gathered at Home begins with the things I value in my own life: faith, friendship, laughter, hospitality, home, and the belief that ordinary moments can become some of our most treasured ones.
Why I Created Bayshore Bluff

I’ve always loved small towns—the kind where people wave as they pass, shop owners know your name, and life moves at a friendlier pace. Bayshore Bluff was inspired in part by the beautiful waterfront town of St. Michaels, Maryland. Its harbor, charming streets, welcoming shops, and coastal character sparked my imagination and made me wonder what stories might unfold in a town like it.
From that inspiration, Bayshore Bluff became a place of its own—a fictional harbor town filled with charming shops, cozy cafés, colorful characters, creativity, friendship, and, of course, a little mystery. More than anything, I wanted it to feel like a community where people look out for one another and where visitors quickly begin to feel at home.
When I write, I hope readers feel as though they’ve stepped into Bayshore Bluff themselves—shared a cup of coffee, wandered along the harbor, stopped to browse the shops, and found a place they want to return to again and again.
A Few Things About Me
When I’m not visiting Bayshore Bluff in my imagination, life is usually filled with family, friends, faith, flowers, a good book, something cooking in the kitchen, and more than a few creative projects. Here are a few things that make me, well… me.
My Happy Place
Being outdoors in my backyard, listening to the birds and enjoying the view of my flowers—or spending a beautiful day in St. Michaels, Maryland.
My Creative Escape
Watercolor painting. I love the quiet of putting brush to paper and watching a scene slowly come to life.
What Home Means to Me
A place where family and friends feel welcome, there is always room for one more, and nobody worries if everything isn’t perfect. Home is where memories are made and traditions are created—from gathering around the table to laughter-filled game nights and the simple moments we remember long after they’re over.
My Four-Legged Crew
Our pets are part of the family and usually somewhere close by—keeping us company, making us laugh, and occasionally getting into things they shouldn’t. My love for animals has naturally found its way into my stories, too.
Why I Write
I write because I love creating places readers can escape to for a while—places filled with friendship, laughter, familiar faces, and stories that leave you feeling a little lighter when you close the book
Something I Believe
The ordinary days matter. The meals around the table, conversations with friends, flowers blooming in the garden, family traditions, laughter, faith, and time spent with the people we love—those are the moments that make a life.
Come Visit Bayshore Bluff
Whether you came here through one of my mysteries, Gathered at Home, the Coloring Corner, or simply wandered in for a visit, I’m so glad you’re here. Bayshore Bluff was created to be more than the setting for a story—it’s a place to return to, explore, and feel at home for a little while.
So pour yourself something warm, stay awhile, and make yourself at home. There’s always something new waiting along the harbor.
