Welcome to the Harbor
There’s always something happening along the harbor.
The Harbor Journal is your place to wander a little deeper into Bayshore Bluff—step inside the shops, pull up a chair at the café, visit the inn, meet familiar faces, and discover the places that make this little coastal town feel like home.
You may even stumble across a recipe from Violet’s kitchen, a new arrival at Second Chances & Sea Glass, something taking shape at Brush & Kiln, or a bit of town news that Helena probably wasn’t supposed to hear.
So stay awhile and explore. Around Bayshore Bluff, you never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner.
Second Chances & Sea Glass

Step Inside the Bookshop
Push open the door and you’ll find shelves filled with well-loved mysteries, new favorites, watercolor supplies, small treasures of sea glass, and the sort of unexpected finds Helena Blackstone can never resist bringing into the shop.
There’s usually coffee somewhere nearby, a chair waiting for anyone who wants to stay awhile, and more than a little town conversation taking place between the shelves.
On the Shelves Today
A stack of cozy mysteries, a newly arrived collection of sea-glass treasures, and a handwritten note from Helena reminding everyone that browsing is encouraged and hurrying is not.
Brush & Kiln
Come Create With Us
There’s usually something creative happening at Brush & Kiln. Helena’s watercolors share space with Zinnia Jax’s handcrafted pottery, while brushes, paints, clay, and half-finished projects give the studio the comfortable feeling of a place where making something matters more than making it perfect.
Visitors are always welcome to look around, ask questions, admire what’s drying on the shelves, or settle in for one of the studio’s seasonal workshops.
On the Worktable Today
A watercolor of East Point Lighthouse, several freshly glazed pottery mugs, and a small bowl filled with pieces of sea glass waiting to inspire somebody’s next project.

Violet Finch’s Café

Pull Up a Chair
Violet Finch’s Café is the kind of place where nobody seems to be in much of a hurry. The coffee is hot, something homemade is usually cooling on the counter, and there’s always a familiar face nearby.
Violet knows what her regulars like, keeps an eye on what’s happening around town, and somehow manages to hear more Bayshore Bluff news than almost anyone. Stop in for breakfast, stay for another cup of coffee, and don’t be surprised if the conversation turns interesting.
From Violet’s Kitchen Today
Fresh coffee, warm cinnamon muffins, and a homemade pie waiting beneath the glass dome on the counter.
Bayshore Bluff Inn
Welcome to the Inn

There’s something about the Bayshore Bluff Inn that makes people want to stay a little longer. Maybe it’s the harbor view from the porch, the comfortable rooms, or the way Margo Thorne has a gift for making every guest feel as though they’ve been expected.
Mornings begin with coffee and breakfast, afternoons invite you to settle into an Adirondack chair, and evenings are best spent watching the lights come on around the harbor. Of course, this is Bayshore Bluff, so an entirely uneventful stay can never be guaranteed.
Around the Inn Today
Fresh flowers on the breakfast table, coffee on the porch, Asher making his rounds, and Margo insisting that everything is perfectly under control.

3 Cozy Ways to Welcome September Into Your Home
September has a way of arriving quietly. The afternoons may still feel like summer, but cooler mornings, earlier sunsets, and the first hints of changing leaves make home feel ready for something a little cozier. You don’t need to redecorate the whole house to welcome the season—sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

1. Bring the Last Flowers Indoors
Before the garden begins to fade, cut a handful of whatever is still blooming and bring it inside. Zinnias, dahlias, hydrangeas, or even a few branches of greenery can make a kitchen table feel special. Skip the formal arrangement—a pitcher, mason jar, or favorite old vase is often prettier anyway.
2. Change One Thing in the Living Room
You don’t need bins of fall decorations to make a room feel different. Trade one lightweight summer pillow for something warmer, drape a soft throw over your favorite chair, or add a woven basket beside the sofa. One small change can shift the mood of the entire room without making it feel like fall arrived overnight.
3. Make an Ordinary Evening Feel Special
September evenings are too lovely to rush through. Take dinner to the porch, carry dessert outside, or simply sit with a cup of tea as the day cools. Light a candle, put the phones away, and enjoy the last stretch of evenings when staying outdoors still feels easy.
September doesn’t need a grand entrance. A few flowers from the garden, one cozy touch indoors, and an unhurried evening may be all it takes to welcome the season home.
Before You Leave the Harbor…
Something new has appeared on the community board beside the docks.
Among the notices for watercolor classes, lost sunglasses, fresh crabs, and a neighborhood yard sale is one handwritten card:
FOUND: ONE VERY UNUSUAL KEY
Found near the harbor.
If you believe it belongs to you, you’ll need to describe what it opens.
Someone has added a note underneath in different handwriting:
Good luck with that.
No one has claimed the key yet.
Stop by the Harbor Journal again soon. Bayshore Bluff has a habit of changing when you aren’t looking.
